Julia Anderson, Vice President of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young

Julia Anderson graduated from Rice University with a BA in Philosophy and Economics & Business Administration. After a year of European travel, she decided to pursue an MBA, but lacked the funding, so she accepted a position as a Field Director for the Girl Scouts. This gave her a wealth of organizational management experience in addition to the money to attend Georgia Tech where she attained an MS in Industrial Management. She was then hired by Arthur Anderson as a consultant where she worked her way up to manager. After eight years personal circumstances dictated that she pursue a career that required less travel and she accepted a position with Colgate. Before even starting that job, she realized that the structure of the position would not be a good fit, and career counseling reinforced that consulting was the right path for her. She "cut a deal" with an executive at Ernst & Winney that she could have two years without travel assuming that she could find her own clients. This position eventually led to her making Partner and relocating to Seattle. She became a Vice President when Cap Gemini merged with Ernst & Young.
